Bob Frick's Cycle of Hope

One year ago, Bob Frick, a 71 year-old Habitat supporter and local community leader, approached Habitat East Bay with an idea: he proposed a bike ride across the southern part of the United States to raise money and awareness for Habitat East Bay.

Since then, Bob’s ride has grown in size and notoriety amongst locals and all across the country as the media recounted his progress. Bob and his wife, Barbara, who took care of trip logistics, stopped at 9 different local Habitat affiliates along his 3,200 mile trip through 8 states and raised more than $81,000 for Habitat East Bay.

The ride culminated in a true hero’s welcome thrown by the St. Augustine Habitat affiliate. Bob rode the last 10 miles surrounded by 40 partner family members, Habitat supporters and a police escort to the beach where he dipped his front tire into the Atlantic.

“It was great to finally see the Atlantic Ocean after 70 days of riding across mountains, plains, and fighting winds. Although I rode more than 3,200 miles, I never felt more excitement and energy than the last stretch riding with these partner families – they’re the reason that I did all of this,” said Bob.

Funds from Bob Frick’s Cycle of Hope will be used to sponsor a home in Contra Costa county.

Thank you Bob and Barbara for everything! You are both truly and inspiration.
